Terrazzo’s roots date back to the construction of the Venetian in Italy, where craftsman innovated this flooring technique by using left over marble chips from upscale jobs, embedding them into the clay surface, using metal divider strips laid out in patterns to create intricate designs, and producing an entirely new flooring alternative called terrazzo. Terrazzo utilizes the expensive look of marble while reducing the cost.
